This here is an S.O.S.

1) Switching to the sippy
I've made the switch from bottle to sippy cups. It has not gone well. Porter wont drink. Is this normal? How do YOU do it? Help please....

2) Losing weight
I feel like I'm stuck. I lose 2 lbs and then gain 1 and go back and forth and back and forth. I have increased my workouts. I'm working on decreasing my intake but I'm just not seeing progress. How do YOU do it? Count calories, diets that work, alli???

3) That's all my S.O.S. I just need help figuring out this whole sippy cup thang and any insight, tricks, known weight buster help. Thanks ya'll. Have a happy Friday!

Samantha had a hard time adjusting to sippy cups. I definitely am NOT going to say do what I did.. It worked for us, but most moms would drop there kids off a one story building before doing it. What can I say? I'm a mean mom :) Anyway I understood how VERY important it is for kids to have their milk, and when she turned 1 and switched to cows milk in a sippy I went all or nothing. Children will not let themselves starve to death. First thing in the morning I gave her her milk (I warmed it up a little bit) and she didn't get ANYTHING else to eat or drink until she'd drank her milk. The first day I think she lasted til about 1. The next couple days she lasted til 10 or 11, and within a couple weeks she LOVED milk and sippy cups and would drink it all the time without any problems.
As for losing weight, I have found that if I exercise a ton I can't get below a certain weight. So I usually exercise for 2 weeks, and gain 0-1 pounds, then don't exercise for a week (and eat REALLY well.. not as in high quanitity, but healthily) and usually drop about 3 pounds. My body just refuses to go below a certain weight if I'm exercising all the time. That's how I've lost my last 12 or so pounds. (now, I'm back to pre-baby, yay!!!) Also, the more man made ingredients in your food, the more they mess with your hormones, which messes with your metabolism. We have recently switched to whole foods whenever possible and it's helped a lot too.
Dang, this is a long comment!

Oh, and to be clear, Samantha HATED cow's milk and sippy cups when she turned 1 :)

I don't pretend to know everything because I don't, but this is what worked for us...

For the sippy cup, just push through. It's like sleep training. Awful for a few days but then so worth it. My kids have both adjusted within 3 days. Just pack the bottles away so it isn't even an option (for you or for him ;). We do cold turkey. My Dr. has said that if you baby them too much with a bottle they won't feel the need to transition to a sippy because they know eventually they'll get a bottle. He won't starve, he'll get it! You could also try different sippy cups. Ryker did better with a straw sippy when I first transitioned him. Offer it often, and understand that they rarely drink it all in one sitting. With Addy she thought it was funny to take turns. I would pretend to take a sip and be really silly about it, then I would give it to her to take a sip. That's still how I get her to drink sometimes if I feel like she hasn't drank enough for the day. Try not to let it stress you out too much :)

For working out...stop caring. You are hot and look fantastic! You are doing all the right things. You are exercising (harder than the vast majority of people do!) and eating healthy. Remember how you are training for a MARATHON! Don't take your intake down if your body needs it! Janae has a really good analogy she uses with her CC girls about food intake vs. energy output. Just let it go. For me, the more I stress about it the more it takes over which isn't healthy. Make healthy food choices, exercise, drink lots of water, get enough sleep and treat your body well. That's all you can do. If you can stop caring about it and realize you are doing everything you can then 1 of 2 things will happen: 1) you eventually lose the weight and it's a pleasant surprise or 2) you don't lose the weight but you're ok with it because you know your body is healthy and strong and you are doing everything you can. I TOTALLY understand the need to get back to where you started, but the sooner I realized and accepted that it could possibly never be where I started, but I could still do my best to be healthy, strong and fit the happier I've been. Set other fitness goals for yourself besides weight...faster 5k, # of lunges, etc. Take the focus off the weight and just do what you can to be healthy.

You are one hot mama!

We had the same problem with Parker. We ended up just cold turkeying it and after 2 days he finally gave in. We also tried about 10 different types of sippys and straw cups seemed to transition the best. We also had to heat up his milk for the first little while until he got used to it. Good luck!
