Practically Perfect in every way

Caleb and I are proud to present Porter Kenneth Wilkins. He was born April 3, 2010. He weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. He is such a sweet little boy and we love him so much. I've been lucky to have my mom here to help me (and I have need the help) and my sister here to take pictures (your bday blog is coming- I promise). I will tell the birth story another day. Nursing has been harder than I could have imagined. I have been cracked and bleeding. I am now recovering from mastitis- an infection of the breast. It has been really hard. It's hard enough being a new mom and then to have a hard time feeding your baby and then get sick! My poor baby has had a no fun mommy. But I have faith that things will get better. That and my mom stayed longer to help me and I have my second apt with a lactation consultant tomorrow. Anyway here are some pictures of this beautiful baby I have been blessed with!

So cute:) Babies always make me smile. FYI... Re: Breastfeeding, to help the baby latch properly rub your nip across his jaw. Going from near his ear toward his mouth. go somewhat slowly and it will get him to "search" and move his head to latch on properly. When I have the lactation consultant in the hospital she drove me nuts and made everything sooo much worse. My aunt told me this trick and it worked like a charm. Also, when you feel a blockage or an infection in your breast coming on...nurse the baby on all four. Yep...it's VERY awkward and strange but you lay the baby on the bed and you get on all fours and nurse being above the baby. The gravity helps to unclog your duct. Sorry for all the info, I'm just trying to help :) I had a few issues when I started nursing but after a little while it was wonderful. I'm still nursing her (she's 10.5 months now) AND I'm 16 weeks preggo. I don't know how I will stop nursing her because I love it so much. Don't give up...It will come with time :)

Kendra he is adorable!!And know that you aren't alone in the breastfeeding. I was cracked, bleeding and had mastitis through the first few weeks too! I ended up pumping for her and giving her a bottle while I healed. She refused to go back to the breast and it was REALLY hard. I was really depressed about it for weeks and felt like a failure. I'm not trying to complain I'm just trying to say that I wasted a lot of unnecessary time being depressed, when really I should have been so happy to have such a healthy baby who did just fine! If it doesn't work out for you, then it isn't the end of the world, and little Porter will be just fine. I really hope it works out for you though. Good luck!

He is absolutely perfect and SO handsome! You make cute babies for sure. I have been thinking about you a lot lately. I hope you are doing ok. I'm so sorry nursing has been rough. I did the whole mastitis 2 weeks out, lactation specialist (again) 3 weeks out, crying EVERY time I tried to nurse etc. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. When you are feeling up to it I would love to come see you and meet him! Sorry for the novel. The End.

Awww... such a handsome little man. :) All the good thoughts I can think of go out to you - I'm right there with Nicole. I wish you the best of luck - and keep trying. But, if you can't get it, that's okay too. I love bottle feeding Carson and it helps when Danny can feed him and I can sleep. Ahh... sleep. I hope your mom can help you get some of that! Sending lots of mommy love!!
