Christmas Cards!
Here are the pictures we took for our Christmas cards. My sisters sister in law took the pictures for us ( so sad you live far away Kristie) and we were so grateful! She did a great job, even though she assured us she didn't know anything. She is getting into photography so if any of you want some pictures taken I know two great photographers! The last one is the one we put on the cards and will be mailing them out this week! I was so excited for our outfits. (what a nerd huh?) As most of you know, I often dream of dressing up and going to fancy parties with Caleb. Just walk by a banana republic with me! Anyway we got the dress and the his sweater at a JCREW sales store (that is now long gone) for only $25 COMBINED! Christmas came early!
It's that time of year...
My birthday is quickly approaching! Only 8 days until my big 25! I have thought about this and have chosen to veto adding a year. So I will become 24.1 Next year ( given I am still not ready to turn 25) I will be 24.2 Any of you out there who have issues with old age should really take this approach to growing older. We were not able to find affordable tickets to Georgia this year so darn it we have to go to California! It will be sad because Caleb's (almost) whole family will be there and he really misses them, but of course I will not complain about having my 24.1 birthday and Christmas will close family and friends! We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday this year!
p.s. We apologize for the lack of pictures... we need to get a chord to hook our camera up with the computer and have been too busy to go buy it!

Consider this blog restricted
Due to some uncalled for comments I have had to think about some things. Should I set this blog to private and only invite those I want to read to read it? Should I restrict comments so I read and chose which comments I allow to be posted? Should I start another blog and only tell certain people the website? All these ideas have been going through my head. Hmm, but that's not how I roll. If you don't like it too bad. I'm not about to change my blog because of someone else. However, I don't appreciate being "taught" or "scolded" by other people about my OPINIONS (if you really want to get fired up we should talk politics.) So this is my solution... this blog is for 21 years and older. And it helps if you have a sense of humor! ENJOY
FYI- not that I think I should have to say this..
If you haven't figured it out I like to joke. Caleb and I are pretty happy-go lucky people that like to have a good time. We joke make fun and enjoy a good laugh. That said most of my "opinion" blogs are making fun. AKA Having a good time. I post them to have fun and poke fun. I never do it in a mean or malicious manner. However, it is my blog and I will DARE to write what I feel. If it gets you upset or "mad" ( why I have no idea) There are two things you should know 1) most likely I'm joking, learn to take a joke, you'll live longer and 2) Do NOT go off on me (get your on blog to do so). Blogging is a funny thing, I have fun with it ALL of my friends have fun with it. And MOST everyone reading this blog/those who know me, know I am just having fun. P.S. I do not like to get into religious matter on a blog, I don't think it is the proper venue for it but that's just me and my blog! THANKS!

Meet Rosie
Lately it seems like girls are more inhibited, lacking confidence, or just lacking. I have broadened my horizons and have tried to make my temporary stay in Utah as pleasant as can be. But really what are these people drinking? I have heard "oh I can't do that" or "I'll watch my husband but I'm no good at that" and honestly the list goes on and on. Really? Come on women! Obviously I am a proud yup PROUD feminist. I believe in women and I am proud to be a woman. But that doesn't mean all I can do is cook/clean/make a fetus etc. I encourage those of you out there who may be a bit inhibited to meet Rosie. She did it. She says that you can do it....so go DO IT!

Dont Steal my LUNCH!
So I am officially into my work schedule. My life as follows- Mon-Timp High School Tues-Freedom Elem Wed-Lakerdige Thurs- Shelly Elem Fri- American Fork High. FUN! Anyway I was warned about one of the kids that I work with, he will steal your FOOD! I thought this was funny but no way it would happen to me. It happened..well almost. I went to get him and another student for speech and he ran into the speech room before I could get there. Ha I hid my lunch in my desk I was safe. NOT. I went in and he was searching my desk, and when he walked in he was pretending to look at my papers. I noticed my desk drawer aka my secret lunch location was open. I caught him in the act! I had to drill him for a minute to make sure my lunch was still there. It was, but only because I came in at the right time. Man I never imagined having to watch my lunch so closely!

Our FIRST MARATHON!
We did it! My life long goal! We ran the Park City Marathon. Some interesting facts about this marathon: some runners carry camera's because it is so pretty ( I would drive it if you really care to see the pretty things) there was a cow on the trail ( it drove me off the rode with it's mean eye) and the first 16 miles are uphill! Oh and mile 18 is about 85% incline up a hill. YUP! It was so brutal. That and with the previous week being my first week back at school I got sick. Those kids gave me a bad cough and I was really struggling during the race. Caleb was a great supporter during miles 10-13. We finished and I was grateful for my sister Katie and my nephew Quinn who were there cheering for us. It was what I needed to cross that line. That was just one of my blisters one of my toes lost all its skin and is very raw and Caleb got a monster too but it burst during the run. I am excited to do our next marathon...now I just need to find one!!
Dear Girls for life
Girls for life, I first want to you know I LO LO LO LOVE you! Second even thought we may never have a just girls trip now, do NOT let me get my hair braided. It didn't look good not ever and just because we were in Jamaica does NOt make it ok, I see that now. Anyway. I need my girls for life and even though were married or moving to Germany does not mean we can stop playing. Lets get together. Maybe we can be in high school again....
Go USA!!!
This is the hubs and I in Taiwan at a rally for the Olympics last year! We were so excited to kinda be part of the excitement and meet the Olympic mascots! Even though China is a dirty fitly rotten and completely corrupt Country we were proud of the Americans and most of the athletes that competed( those that were of age and followed the rules of course). Anyway I know its over but we are proud of the U.S.A!

P.S
Our camera broke and I don't want to leave you without a new post (Kristie) but I will stop my rants and post pictures soon, especially when we go to Oceanside next week!
Dateline I love you
So many of you may know that Dateline and 20:20 are my FAVORITE shows!!! The hubs and I were watching dateline Sunday edition: "The front liners". It was great! It showed all the men and women who work in the airport, shipping ports, and immigration! It also showed all the illegal immigrants who are trying to bring drugs, bombs and themselves into our beautiful Country. I just want to thank those workers who get so little respect, for protecting our Country. It showed one car that was driving in from Mexico ( surprise) and had over 40 lbs of drugs hidden in the car. There was also a man from an island off of China who brought (well tried too) tons of pharmaceutical drugs in. There was immigration who caught 5 men trying to sneak into the U.S.A with over 40 lbs of drugs in each of their backpacks! I am not a fan of illegal immigration. Who is you ask? People who don't try and stop it. Living in Taiwan and traveling around really made me appreciate the beauty of our Country. It also made me realize how many people are taking advantage of it and destroying it. I have had enough. I am writing my congress men and encouraging them to fight. I am going to fight to my death to make English the NATIONAL LANGUAGE. I strongly encourage you to fight with me. I'm not really political but this is one thing that really gets me going, especially because I see it soooooo much right next door. Let me say this though, I am NOT a racist. I AM A NATIONALIST! Don't confuse the two or the U.S.A will never have a chance.

Privacy Please!
As a newly married couple I have found that people feel entitled to personal information. Even before Caleb and I were married people would ask "when will you have kids?" This didn't bother me so much because there was no way we were even thinking about kids. However, as time goes on and on people's questions have got a little intrusive. It's not the question that bothers me so much as there shock or dislike of our answers. These inquisitive people don't like to hear "when were ready" or "never", or "oh we aren't interested in that". Usually we play around and tell people silly remarks like "oh we aren't interested in ruining our lives." We are joking of course but why can't these people back off? It really gets me going when they feel they have a right to know when we are going to start our family and WHY we haven't already. Does everyone go through this? It is very interesting and hard for me because my parents have NEVER asked Caleb and I (or any of my sisters for that) when we are going to have kids. They believe that it is between husband and wife and no one else should involve themselves. Thank you mom and dad. It seems like they and my very own siblings are the only ones that get this. If you think you are really close to us, go ahead ask us the question but please do not feel entitled to an answer and please do NOT get into they whys and why nots of it. It's between Caleb and me. And we'll stick to our rude answers as long as people feel so invasive. We've only been married a little over a year and thats hardly time enough in both our opinions to start a new life. Also am I the only one who had these questions? Over and over? Did anyone else suffer? Is anyone else suffering? Maybe it's a good sign for you if I'm alone on this one.

DreEEEAM- Dream dream dream
I realize that most people have dreams that they can remember in very vivid detail but some of my dreams lately have let me feeling restless. First there was the dream (if you can call it that) where I was being held captive by .... Warren Jeffs. Now not wanting to go into details; my dream confirmed what I thought about him, he is the most disturbed and sick and evil man alive. Anyway it involved being held captive, trying to save my little (non existent) sister and finally me standing up to him and escaping(go me!) Then there's been the dreams of fighting monsters, having friends over to dinner and end up fighting with them and they leave in a taxi. The worse was me running my marathon and not being able to run and it taking forever and me finishing in 6 hours; when I looked at the finish time I cried. Then last nights. I was at Walt Disney World which was conveniently located in London and was there with my hubs and some friends. My mom and I were looking at suckers when all the sudden these demon butterflies and bugs came about. Turns out I had to discover the power within me to fight them off, with a sword, and I did. How weird right? Let me just say Caleb and I don NOT watch and demon movies are not computer "Gamers" so there is no WOW in my life ( if you don't know what that is I am proud of you). Could it be the foods I'm eating? The hour I go to sleep? I really don't think my current novel written by Nicholas Sparks has anything to do with these, but who knows? Well hopefully I can find rest in knowing that I have been to London, I have battled demons (with a sword) and that even if I don't like the time I did it in, I have finished a marathon! Sweet Dreams everyone!

Save the Date!!!
Caleb and I are doing the Park City Marathon ...... August 23rd!!!!!!!!!!! So Save the date.(Kristie you should fly up and do it with me) I welcome all who want to cheer for me at the finish line (assuming I make it!) Running a marathon has been a goal/dream of mine for EVER! And I am so excited that we are doing it this summer! We have a LOT of training but I love running so it should be fun. We are also doing a really fun 5k in Salt lake city August 9th if my sister Katie wants to have fun she would run it with us! Anyway any good running/training tips are more the welcome and invited! Wish us luck! This picture was taken after we finished the Taroko half marathon in Taiwan. It was brutal and hilly but we did it in a lot less time than we thought! Homesick
Dear Mattie, Khloe, Jake and Jared, I miss you very much. I love getting your pictures and art work in the mail. I love getting very sweet voicemail from you. I miss you a TON! I wish I could see you more. I wish I could fly home every other weekend and see you. I wish I could take you on Auntie dates like I used too. But only 66 days until Oceanside and I can't wait to play with you. We can go swimming and on walks and all sorts of fun stuff. I love you very much.
Love, Your Auntie Kendra
P.S. Quinn I miss you too but I get to see you more so don't take it personal! I love you!
Fun in the SUN!!
The hubs and I had a three day weekend so we took the forever drive to Saint George to go camping in Snow Canyon! We had a blast. A word of advice; make your reservation before you go, we were lucky to get a spot! We set up camp and went mountain biking and hiking all over snow canyon. It really is beautiful and breathtaking. The canyons are overwhelming. We hiked all over and had lots of fun. One hike was an "easy" hike to three pools. YEAH RIGHT. You hike through sand (aka NOT easy) to a small hole in a rock filled with nasty water and even more nasty bugs. Not impressed. We also hiked up to an old volcano. As you can see with my leap for joy it was a hard hike. That was pretty cool, especially because we hiked up the front not knowing there was a trail we could have taken! But we really did have a great time. Its been our goal to go camping but we haven't been able to so this weekend was a long time coming. Caleb and I both prefer to be outside and riding and hiking was just what we needed. Don't worry Kelly this camp site had a shower with hot water, so we didn't do real camping.

Welcome to the 21st Century
Here I am in Provo, Utah and have experienced many "You know your in Utah when" moments. Utah is really pretty and has lots of outdoor things to do. It has its downs too, like the people. So Caleb and I went into a store and we had to fill out some information and give our names. I gave my name, Kendra P. And Caleb gave his. The girl stops and looks at us and says "Oh I thought you were married" and we said we are married. And she thinks for a second and goes "Oh I'll change her name for her". And I said "no, thanks" Caleb is telling her not to as well. Then she looks at Caleb and says "She doesn't really NOT want to change her name does she?" All the while NOT acknowledging that I am right in front of her. So Caleb tells her "No, she doesn't want to change her name". The girl very offended that I think for myself and am not stuck but some rules that have NO meaning to me asks "Why would she not want to change her name?" I inform her that its my name and just because I got married does Not mean that I lost my identity, also that name has background. Kendra Porter has graduated from a University, you can come see the Diploma. She has traveled numerous different countries and has experienced numerous different things. Turns out the girl changed my name anyway and so the next time I saw her I made her change it back. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS LIKE THIS???
Don't answer that because I am afraid the answer will be YES. Let me clarify. Caleb and I got married and SIX weeks later moved to Taiwan. I didn't have time to change my name and get my new passport. So I kept it. We got back, moved to Utah and I admit I haven't changed it yet. Am I planning on it? Yes. However, I am lucky enough to have a husband that doesn't expect me to change my name. But lets become forward thinkers here. Lets move past the 1920's where the only role women have is in the shadow of her husband. Imagine a world where you don't have to change your name. ( Why don't the men?? It's not like its just as EASY for them to do it as it is for women). Imagine a world where even if are a name changer ( like I will be one day) you don't force that upon other women. Don't criticize them or cringe at the thought that they can be so independents. And certainly do NOT change THEIR name for them.
This sounds anti-men, but its not. It's anti-women being pro- women. I am sure its just that I am living in this bubble where the people don't always think for themselves and have a bad case of tunnel vision. Don't worry mom, I will change my name but please lets grow a little tolerance here.

He couldn't keep his TRUNK off me!!
This is Bang Bang! We got to ride him through the forest in Cosa mui and it was the best experience ever. It was a DREAM COME TRUE for me. All my life I had want to backpack Thailand and ride an elephant. I got both! Bang bang was the best. He loved to dance and talk! I fell in love! I have always had a love and appreciation for elephants and this just made it stronger. If I could have it my way we would be hanging out with Bang Bang right now! I loved him so much. He was beautiful and his tusks were amazing. While on the topic of elephants I must say that purchasing anything that contains ivory makes you a murder. I watched a special in Taiwan ( in English) about the people that kill elephants for their tusks. Over half of their bodies are left to rot, only a little is taken for food. I strongly feel this is a serious issue and we need to fight against it. Or there isn't going to be any more Bang Bangs to love.
Yummy
Ahh the good warm days

1) I LOVE to vacuum. It is my favorite thing to do and it really bums me out if Caleb beets me to it!
2) I wash my hands like 30 times a day. I work with little kids and am paranoid about taking any germs from them, so I wash and wash.
3) I love to run and am running the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco in October.
Along with that I am EXTREMELY competitive so when I run on the treadmill I have to run faster and longer than the person next to me!
4) I want to live in a different country for a few years. Caleb and I loved Taiwan and I made him promise me ( not the other way around believe it or not) that we would go back and live for a few years.
5) I listen to peoples speech and analyze it especially if I hear a speech error.
6) I will NEVER eat any seafood. If I don't eat them then maybe they won't eat me, I love to play in the ocean and I'll make whatever deals I can
7) I hate gum. I think it is so gross to keep one piece of food in my (or for you) mouth for so long. Ugh it makes me gag!

Love Tag...
Where did you first meet your husband?
My sister first meet my husband when he put air conditiong in her house. She called me up and told me she had a really hot A/C boy and I should come see. She set out pictures and talked me up ( it did no good, he didn't like the pictures = ( . Then I came over to visit my niece and see this A/C boy. I thought he was really cute but really dirty, he was working hard.
What was the first date?
We went to Laguna Beach and ate at BJ's. I got my favorite BBQ chicken salad and he got the sweet pig pizza and a Shirley Temple with chocolate syrup. We barely ate anything because we were talking so much. When we finished not eating we went for a walk around the beach. He dared me to jump off the boardwalk and I ate it. So I came back with an even better dare. I dared him to jump in the ocean. Needless to say we both ended up playing in th ocean ( we were fully clothed so don't go there). We drove back to Fullerton and he asked me out for the second date!! I have to add that it was the best date I had ever been on.
When was your first KISS?
On our third date Caleb had still not put the moves on. We went to San Diego to go to a Packers game. We stayed for the game and had a lot of fun. He started getting really cuddly and we did have a 3.5 hour drive to San Diego where we were holding hands and getting cozy. We stayed in the parking lot for about an hour talking and being silly ( i was leaving for Hawaii for a week so he didn't want it to end). Then on the drive home I was leaning into him and he turned his head and kissed me! Did I mention we were on the FREEWAY going 85 MILES!!!!
He will say I pounced him but it was a long time coming and he liked it!!!
Short/Long Courtship/Engagement
We dated the whole month in California and then continued to date while he was at BYU and I was finishing in Fullerton. In November we talked about things getting serious and in January we were officially unoffically engaged. I moved to Utah the end of January and we were married in June. So we were engaged for 7 months which I do NOT recommend, it was really draining and we were both working two jobs, not to mention a crazy roommate that really complicated things. But it was definitely worth all that.
Where were did you get married?
We got married June 1st 2007 in the San Deigo Temple!! All of my sisters were married there and I absolutely loved it. Everyone we wanted to be there was and it was an amazing day!
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
After my dream reception in the Boathouse at Fairmont Park we went to the Mission Inn ( a Historical Hotel in Downtown Riverside). We were bumped up to the Presidential Suite because we went in our wedding stuff. The room was amazing and my dream to stay there!! We even had a crowd cheering when he carried me in. Then we hung out in Riverside for a few days waiting for our flight to ARUBA. We went to Aruba for a week and loved it. Aruba is just off the coast of Venezuala. We had a great time chilling on the beach in the heat and snorkeling the entire island. We rented a car and drove around the whole thing, stopping of course to snorkle everywhere. We took a few fun boat trips and one Catamaran sunset cruise which was awesome. I loved it and would love to go back! Thanks Caleb!!

Home Sweet Home
It has been quite a while since we last posted a blog! Don't blame us we haven't gotten internet yet. I am currently writing on my sweet MACBOOK from work! Oh in case you didn't hear I got my dream job as a Speech Technician. It is great. I love the people I work with and I love loving my job. Finally using my degree is something else. Caleb is doing NuSkin and Apx for the time being. We are happily settling into our sweet home. ( I refuse to call it an apartment because it is so much better than we have ever lived in) We finished painting the living room and actually have things hanging on the walls!! We are going to do the kitchen and bathroom next. It should be fun. I am very excited for my family to come for Quinn's blessing and for Caleb's family when Danika comes. Things are going great and we are loving life! We still have pictures from Taiwan and Thailand but those will have to wait!!

The Grand Palace
This is us at the Grand Palace. It was AMAZING!!!! We loved all the details and different types of Gods and Temples. The Guard is at the entrance of the Temples, a little scary but full of details. Every spot of the Grand Palace was full of the most incredible detail. And to think they made it so long ago.
